About Page
Thanks for visiting my site! I am a novice blogger and a beginner chef, but I have a passion for cooking and love to share my ideas and recipes.
Growing up, I remember calling my Nana for her recipes and being told to ‘just make it my own’ - to use what I had around the house and to be creative. With that advice I have been able to experiment with my cooking and now I truly enjoy scouring my cupboard and racking my brain for ideas and inspiration.
I am a stay-at-home mommy and every now and then I find the time to try new things to make my own – and it helps to have a wonderful husband who is my constant guinea pig! I love all sorts of foods and flavors and am a semi-health nut with a sweet tooth.
After my wedding in September of 2007 I moved to a few small towns. Since then, I’ve had to learn to use the most simple ingredients found at every basic grocery store. And it’s not all bad! I spend less money and have become more creative along the way.
Below are a few random facts about me:
- I am originally from Annapolis, Maryland, and, in typical fashion, I met my husband while he was a student at the Naval Academy.
- I have a half golden retriever-half yellow lab named Clipper who keeps me company and makes me laugh all day long.
- I graduated from Syracuse University and managed to have a blast despite the extreme snowfall. Go Orange.
- I currently live in Yuma, Arizona, where my husband flies the Harrier for the Marine Corps.
- My top favorite foods are: Maryland blue crab, fresh corn on the cob, and (almost all) cheese. A special shout out goes to potatoes and all their infinite versatility.
- I spent 14 years of my life at The Key School in Annapolis, Maryland. I graduated high school with 28 classmates, took French classes for 12 years, and participated in a 6-week canoeing trip. I still consider the friends and faculty that I met there to be some of the best and smartest people I’ve ever known and I am a proud, proud ‘Obezag’ (yes, that is our school mascot).
- I completed the San Antonio marathon in November of 2008 – my very first real race. My knees held up just fine, and I hope to run more (shorter) races in the future. For now, I continue to run 5-6 days a week with my dog, baby, and/or husband as company.
- As a follow up to that, I’ve had two ACL reconstructions on the same knee (thank you, soccer), and am currently sporting a strong cadavar ligament.
- I am half Canadian and am in the midst of obtaining my dual citizenship.
- I have a healthy obsession with food and can count on one hand the things I don’t enjoy eating!
With that said, my hope for this blog is to create a space for sharing recipes and ideas and to spread culinary inspiration. Enjoy…

Just bought the RuMe bags that you feature on your site and they are awesome! They are the perfect size to carry around in my purse and whip out at a moment’s notice. They’re easy to carry, hold lots of stuff, and are cute to boot. Love ‘em – thanks for the tip!
